First I bought the blue one. After several washes the set was softer and I could live with that and I liked the durability and fit so I took the plunge and bought 2 more sets - taupe and burgundy. No number of washes with different fabric softeners have brought any of these sets to a level of softness I can live with. It was a waste of money on my part. The conundrum for me is that given the number of threads, material used etc they have to be good sheets. Maybe I'm too picky. I gave them to a friend who wants to try them and bought another local brand which was soft right out of the box before washing. I don't recommend them if you like soft sheets.
