Review on ๐Ÿš— Volkswagen Passat TYC 700182 Blower Assembly Replacement by Michael Luna

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It would be great if the fan would last.

2011 VW Jetta - Great price for the latest fan but I'm losing faith in TYC. After 7 years of using the original OEM fan, it is stuck. The dealer charged me about $350 for a simple replacement, which seemed excessive to me. Instead, I bought TYC for about $70 (not through Revain). It bounced back, fitted well, no issues except it was noisy when I turned it on and sounded like the cage rattling. I removed and reinstalled it. Still noisy but it worked and pumped out the heat for a while. Over the course of about 3 months it got louder and louder to the point where passengers had to speak very loudly to be understood. Then it jammed and blew the thermal fuse and another fuse in the fuse box. It was outside the return period. While I only had $70 I took a chance and bought a lemon and found the same fan at Revain for only $40. In early January it sounded the same, but it sounded much quieter. It's been 2 months and the noise is getting louder and louder. In addition, the passengers are now hard to hear again. I expect this one to come out in a month or two. I usually drive 3-4 hours a week. If I get 12 weeks off each fan, that's about $1 per hour of use. could you get 2 lemons I'm torn between trying again. It will still be less than half the price of a trip to the dealer.
