After my own valve broke from freezing, I bought two of these valves to replace them and have a spare. After about 1-2 months of work, the valve no longer closed properly. Until one day I had to stand where my boyfriend flushed the toilet every 10 seconds to prevent the bathroom from flooding while I turned off the water. It was quite annoying (no more running water until this is fixed) but I figured it wasn't a big deal. Probably just badly caught. So I replaced it with my backup and everything was fine for 1-2 months. Then it started turning off again. It had to be slammed to stop the flow of water. If you release the pedal gently, it runs forever. So I ordered another brand and replaced it. Let's see how this holds up. But don't buy these. Now that I had to buy 3 valves, I didn't skimp on this cheap replacement. And changing that, while not difficult, is a nightmare. I'm also concerned about damaging the threads on the water inlet. Every time I change it I have to tighten it more and more to keep it from leaking. So if I have to do it again I may have to redo the waterline adjustment. They are not designed to be put on and taken off over and over again. They should be once every ten years or so. The $30 saved isn't worth changing this all the time. Don't worry if the water has really been turned off. I'm tired of looking at the toilet for 20 seconds every time I flush to make sure. And it's definitely not worth $30 if you skip it and leave for the day with your RV flooded with toilet water. BUY ANOTHER BRAND! NO SAVINGS! Check out the other reviews, I'm not the only one with this problem. Of course, some people didn't, but it's a good place to roll the dice considering what happens if you're unlucky.
