Review on Illuminate Your Path with the Black Diamond Revolt Headlamp: A Powerful Lighting Solution by Mark Callaham

Ideal headlamp for everyday use and long journeys

This headlamp is conveniently charged via Micro-USB and also runs on AAA batteries - the perfect combination that makes it useful for everyday use ( where there are chargers) and for long journeys (when it makes more sense to take several batteries with you). It comes with a set of batteries but as mentioned other batteries (eneloop etc.) can be charged in the unit by removing part of the plastic sleeve to match the OEM batteries. In terms of light and control, in "normal" mode the headlamp produces enough light with enough spot and spread for most tasks. Boost mode is even brighter. It's easy to use, but to understand how to do it, you need to read the illustrated guide. The only downsides are that the micro-USB port cover feels flimsy and doesn't provide a solid seal, and the adjustable plastic mounting hinge relies on plastic lugs to keep it in place, and they'll wear out after years of use almost certainly wear out. I'd pay a little more for a version with an aluminum body, better waterproofing, and a snap-on micro-USB cover.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Slightly dented
