The handles were hard and not the soft rubber material I was hoping for, not as sharp. The included large hand scissors are great, very sharp and easy to use. The ones with the red handle aren't that sharp, you can end up making a hack if you're not careful, you really need to soak your feet to soften your toenails. , even after soaking not so enthusiastic about red pencils. Too bad the red grips aren't as sharp or heavier. I had to go to another reviewer who explained that red handled nail clippers would be easier to use if someone else was trimming your toenails. If they were thicker stainless steel I think they would probably cut better, like everything you get what you pay for. I don't like sending things back so I probably keep them to myself and use the old fashioned hand knives that come with them, very sharp and very well balanced. This is really bad, the red grips aren't that sharp and the red grips are a hard material rather than the softer rubber which I was hoping for as they tend to slip out of your grip with wet or wet hands!
