Review on Artlicious Colored Pencils: A Colorful Set Of 50 Pencils For Kids And Adults - Perfect For Art Projects And Professional Use by Eric Budd

Great for children and beginners!

I admit that I am biased because my preferred choice are prismacolor soft core pencils and those are tough competition to match, much less beat. However, my budget made me hopeful that these would get me through until I could afford to splurge on my first choice.I do want to say. These are not horrible at all! But there is definitely room for improvement. Some of the colors need way too much pressure or too many coats to get any color payoff from them. Some of them seem to have something in them that has a scratchy feel as you're coloring or drawing (not sure if I'm explaining it well enough, but I notice tiny lines of more pigment that give it an undesired streaky or scratchy look rather than a fluid or even color). I am autistic, so I have sensory issues and it bothers me to feel that textural change as my pencil moves across the page. These also do not blend well at all, which makes me a little sad because that's half the fun of colored pencils for me.If you are new at or previously unfamiliar with more expensive pencils, these are fantastic. If you are looking for a decent set for a child or beginning artist or someone who uses coloring to help you de-stress, I definitely recommend you try these out! They're a decent price for a nice range of colors. However, if you are an artist, you have experience with more expensive pencils, or you want/need to blend - you most likely will not be happy with these and you should probably wait until you can get your preferred brand.

Pros
  • Easy to sharpen
Cons
  • The pencils may not be suitable for use on glossy surfaces
