Ordered for a new computer. It worked (mostly) as advertised, packaged well and installed with no problems. I do want to point out, however, that it's pretty noisy when you rev it up on takeoff. When I read a CD or DVD, it does three "roll-ups" - each one getting longer and higher - to the point where it sounds like it's going fast. I didn't notice any performance issues at all, but the noise is a turn off, especially since it's the loudest part of my computer. I don't think I've ever worked with a DVD drive that was louder than this when it was working. If you don't watch DVDs on your computer, it probably won't bother you. But if that's the case, then it's probably going to be an annoying howl that you'd rather get rid of. Fair warning! We hope that noise is not an indicator of short life.
