That's LG.nuff said!

Bought two of these because of the price. I was in urgent need of a replacement for an Asus that broke after five months. But I do not scold Asus. I bought two of their DVDs three years ago and the first lasted 2.5 years. Sooner or later I had to go broke. LG does great things too. I bought a number of their IDE players when building computers and rarely had any problems. So I felt confident enough to make this purchase without getting nervous. GH24NS-BOB works great. There's a faint buzz when…

Excellent unit. good for computers and accessories

I bought this unit for a newly installed motherboard in an older HP dc7600CMT case. Works absolutely perfectly. However, I can't say that the new motherboard cost 2 cents even though I paid $153.99 for it (ASRock tech support couldn't figure out that it would NOT go online and kept telling me to go online and download more drivers). It returned to the seller for a full refund, but I kept the LG DVD player and installed a more expensive INTEL 3.0 z77 Sli board (zero problems). Yes, quality…

Have a good trip, good price!

What can I say,,, This is a DVDRW that also burns M-discs! Replaced an old LG DVDRW that could no longer read or burn video discs that I use primarily as an optical drive. I haven't run any tests and I don't feel like worrying and I haven't recorded my burns so I don't have numbers to offer but I can say this. It burns at least as well and as fast as my old LG Super Multi before it broke and was about 1/4 the price! After about a dozen burns, I haven't had any errors using Verbatim DataLifePlus

Nice but I'll keep an eye on it

I ordered a GH24NSB0B they sent a GH24NSC0 instead. The drive is fast and quiet. Burns DVD-R 16x discs at 24x speed. Some disc burning programs (DVD Flick, CD Burner XP) generate "Disc not available" error messages when the tray does not open and close with a disc ready to burn, even though the drive is visible in Device Manager and Windows Explorer. I hope it is more reliable than my S*msung recorders.

Pros
  • Great for me

  • Expensive

Great Buy: Computer Components

There have been a number of LG products. They all worked fine. This device was installed in less than 10 minutes. (well, actually 25 minutes, but it took about 15 minutes to dust off the pc and find the right screwdrivers). I bought this optical drive to use in my Dell which came with not very reliable optical drives. It fits very securely in the first optical bay of my computer case, is very quiet, and plays CDs and DVDs without any fuss. Four screws and two plugs for the drive cable and…

Noisy but works for internal components

Ordered for a new computer. It worked (mostly) as advertised, packaged well and installed with no problems. I do want to point out, however, that it's pretty noisy when you rev it up on takeoff. When I read a CD or DVD, it does three "roll-ups" - each one getting longer and higher - to the point where it sounds like it's going fast. I didn't notice any performance issues at all, but the noise is a turn off, especially since it's the loudest part of my computer. I don't think I've ever worked…
