Review on πŸ”Œ TEMCo High-Performance Heavy Duty Switch CN0003 by Edwin Cen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Robust, simple cabling (details provided by you). First tests passed, ready for a meat grinder! See fig

I liked the price of this footswitch. I was a little surprised that there was no real packaging on arrival and the isolator/clip from the picture was not included. I added an NMB clamp and assembled the necessary parts and tools. I used: 3 crimps on the wire connectors (blue), 1 wire nut (yellow), 8ft ground extension wire (cut from an extra wire in the garage), 1 pair of wires. Wire strippers/pliers and a Phillips screwdriver. Disclaimer: I am not an electrician so follow the instructions at your own risk.1. Cut 8 foot extension cord with plug2. Cut off the pin end of the existing device (meat grinder)3. Thread both cut ends through the NMB clip screwed into the switch4. Strip the green ground wires, twist them together, crimp the wires into a connector and secure with the ground screw on the bottom of the switch5. Strip the ends of the two white/common wires, twist them together and secure with a nut6. Strip the ends of the two black wires and attach them to each connector.7. Locate the black wire from the power cord (plug) and attach it to the set screw on the COM side (in my drawing, the power cord is white and the unit's power cord is black)8. Take the remaining black wire to power the device and secure it under the EIN screw in the middle. *Before tightening the NMB clamp or attaching the cover, I connected the floor switch to the wall and turned on the meat grinder to check. After a successful test, I first tightened the terminal screws and then rechecked the wires to make sure they weren't interfering with the operation of the switch9. Attach the cover with four screws and you should be good to go! Up until 11/25/20 I was only using the switch for testing. If a catastrophic failure occurs I will edit my review. The switch seems solid and well built, but I'm suspicious of the quality of the pivot pins and a bit disappointed that I had to provide my own insulator/clamp for the rear connector. I was also a little concerned about how tightly it was screwed in place. I feel safe at work and look forward to my meat processing adventures without reaching for the side switch and worrying about the cleanliness/dirtiness of the mincer.
