Works for SATA drives the same as PCMS USB 2.0 to IDE Cable with 2.5/3.5/5.25" IDE Drive Adapter and works exactly as advertised. And I've found it works just as well on Linux as it does on MS Windows (various flavors of both) and shouldn't be missing from any gentleman's computer shop. Warning (added after months of use): The SATA connectors on this one are too wide to be used on a 2.5" hard drive and will require careful filing/sandpaper work before accessing any of the currently used drives most laptops can.
