Another very good product!

Works for SATA drives the same as PCMS USB 2.0 to IDE Cable with 2.5/3.5/5.25" IDE Drive Adapter and works exactly as advertised. And I've found it works just as well on Linux as it does on MS Windows (various flavors of both) and shouldn't be missing from any gentleman's computer shop. Warning (added after months of use): The SATA connectors on this one are too wide to be used on a 2.5" hard drive and will require careful filing/sandpaper work before accessing any of the currently used drives…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

External SATA hard drive connected to Ubuntu Linux

I was able to use these cables to transfer data from the hard drive to a NAS device that had its firmware rewritten. The NAS device could not see my previous partitions. I had to remove the hard drive and connect it to another Linux machine using a SATA to USB cable. Ubuntu-Linux recognized the "missing" partitions and allowed me to read/write those partitions. The transfer of data in the gigabyte range takes a few minutes at most. Remember to ensure adequate ventilation of external components!

Good product! the best internal hard drives

I am a regular home PC user whose motherboard and power supply failed. The hard drive worked fine so I needed a quick solution to transfer the data from the old hard drive to another computer. This product did exactly what it was supposed to do, was easy to connect/set up etc. Great price. It has LEDs that indicate the level of activity and an external power supply. If I had to point out one very small negative point, it would be that all the cables are too short, an additional 6 inches would…

SATA powered via USB! - Internal Hard Drives

Sata to USB was recognized by my Hitachi 2TB external drive on Win Vista and Win7 32-64bit. The part is too long to place your peripherals when the desk/area you use is busy :). I tested it 2 weeks after I ordered it in mid-May, tried again, allocating over 700GB of information, took about 4 hours, great reliable stuff!

Easy, fast, amazing

Just got today. It took a few hours to recover about 200GB from my old Vista HD. In fact, I spent most of my time trying to convince Windows that I had admin rights to the drive and then locating the files/folders I saved. This device was light, light, light. Transfer quickly. The drive never got hot. I recommend this to anyone who wants to recover valuable personal or professional data from a crashed hard drive.

Great product at a reasonable price

The SATA hard drive in my HP desktop computer has stopped booting. hardware error. I don't know why Windows Vista won't load anymore, but when it happened I couldn't access this disk. So I needed a way to get the data. I could have taken the hard drive to the Geek Squad and paid over $150 for it, but I ordered this unit instead. Very easy. Within ten minutes of opening the Revain package, I plugged it into my old hard drive, the other end (USB) into my wife's HP desktop, and began transferring…

Great although it worked

I needed to transfer files from a burned out computer to a new windows 7 box This adapter turned on the HD and was immediately recognized as a new USB device. I was able to copy around 100 GB of data without any problems. However, after about half an hour I wanted to copy something else and it stopped working. I thought it might be a Windows 7 problem, but it no longer shows up as a USB device on the XP computer I also plugged it into, and it didn't work any better on any computer with a…

saved me a lot of time!

I bought this cable to clone a failed hard drive to a new hard drive. The cables came in attractive packaging and appear to be of good quality. The SATA adapters required some maneuvering to plug and unplug the HD; it required more roughness than I would want from a sensitive hard drive. However, my HD remained undamaged and works perfectly. The power cord turned red when connected to the HD and the USB cable turned green when connected to my laptop - useful indicators that the products are…
