I wish there were more detailed instructions on how to get started with this product. It is sand and very fine dusty sand. I flushed for a good 30 minutes as directed and added to my JBJ 3G Picotope. After 24 hours I still couldn't see through the water and there was about 1-2 cm of brown dust on the black sand. Then I took out some water and changed it, but to no avail. I found another seller here with 42 reviews to see what others have done. I started from scratch and followed the advice of another reviewer. I drained the water from the tank and poured the sand into the bucket. I set up a deep sink and let the water drain out at full speed and stirred the sand for a while as the water came in. I let the water run over the rim of the bucket until the water ran clear. I often stirred the sand. It made a HUGE difference. I then added the sand back to the tank, rinsed the filter thoroughly, placed a shallow bowl on the sand, and slowly added water to the bowl, allowing it to overflow. I restarted the filter and it's been running for about 45 minutes and it's just the sand that's settling. Thanks for the feedback!
