This Insert has manufacturing inconsistencies that will cause you to spend significant additional time troubleshooting these issues. Since the size of this bit is 1/4-20, one would expect a screw of this size to be easily driven, but this is not the case. Of the 100 pieces I used, 30 would not accept a 1/4-20 screw no matter how hard I tried. What I had to do to solve this problem was run a 1/4-20 tap through the socket on both ends to remove the casting residue that was blocking the screw. I once made it so the insert takes the screw, but I still have to occasionally wiggle the screw to get it turning. PS Never use the 9mm bit listed on the package label to drill holes in wood. 9mm is too big and the insert comes out of the wood every time you tighten the screw. I measured the diameter of the resulting inserts with vernier calipers and their diameter varied from .292 to .305 inches. I used a 5/16 (.3125) inch drill bit instead and had no trouble getting the inserts into the wood, nor did they come out of the wood when I tightened the screws.
