When I first changed the output resolution to anything other than 640x480, the image was distorted. Even when I set the resolution to 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 (4:3 aspect ratio), there were black bars to the left and right of the picture on my 4:3 monitor too, which went to my VCR. I noticed that even if you change the resolution settings, it only changes what Windows 10 calls "desktop resolution". The "Active Signal Resolution" always stayed at 1920x1080 (resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio), so the output was always adjusted for 16:9 displays. After some research on the internet I found that you need to change the "active signal resolution" in your processor. Set the panel resolution to 4:3 aspect ratio, and then you can use any resolution with 4:3 aspect ratio without shrunk image and black bars on the sides. In my situation I'm using it to output video from a Windows 10 PC to a Hi8 VCR and to an S-Video set top box. S-Video video quality is slightly better than standard AV cables, particularly in terms of color washout and sharpness. Absolutely to suggest.
