I recently purchased a 235/45/17 tire for my Passat b7. Although the previous vehicle was equipped with Michelin X-Ice North 4 tires, I opted not to acquire this set because their price exceeded 10% of the vehicle's fair market value. Made a decision to eat Chinese food. In theory, I get my money's worth, but the excessive noise means I'll probably switch tires before the next season. Although the trade wind appears to be a silent vehicle, its rubber kills any sense of relaxation inside. People driving cheap cars like the Logan and Largus are surprisingly numerous in the reviews, and they all report that the tires are surprisingly quiet. If the same Michelin 4 is typically as silent as Velcro, then either people are misinformed about quiet tires or tire size has a significant impact on noise levels.
