Trust the reviews here. There are really only two speeds, fast forward and fast rewind. The biggest problem we had was with the battery. It was completely missing the part that made it DOA, the battery loading spring (see picture). I looked in our junk drawer to see if anything would work to tweak it. And here the full metal button fits perfectly. I bent the pin about halfway and now the battery is secure and the charger is making contact with the battery. Our 4 year old was very excited when he went to bed last night. He'll have a working truck this morning but I suspect he'll be disappointed with the speed and handling so we'll get him back eventually. The second problem is the left direction on the controller. It needs to be slid to the left and to the corner to hook it. cheap cheap. I forgot to mention that blue truck was awfully red.
