Ideal for leather beginners. Wooden jaws can damage the skin they're holding, so the first thing I did was glue some strips of soft, lightweight leather on top as "soft jaws". Thread and needles are fine for beginners, but I attached them to a piece of wood to sit on and work with. There are other similar types but this one only has velcro to attach it to the table. Eventually you will want to switch to better quality bangs if you do a lot of hand sewing. It won't hold anything too thick either. Check out Etsy for better quality ultimate ponies.
