Having scanned 15 books of 400 pages each I am generally satisfied with this device. The hardware is easy to set up and the software is intuitive and simple, yet very powerful. Scanning is very fast, about as fast as you can turn and straighten pages and press the scan button (or footswitch). Total project time for a large book is less than an hour. Scanning and OCR (in English) were nearly error-free and bulletproof, even for technical documents. He even found the words in the pictures. However, this is a consumer-grade device. The skewing and straightening software wasn't perfect, although it only affected the image (not OCR). The illumination and, accordingly, the picture were also unevenly bright, I even tried different options for side, top and additional light. Finally, despite the heavy base, the device is quite unstable in the folded scan mode. To be on the safe side, you should balance the base with a few pounds. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the device as a consumer scanner. It's very attractive and fits perfectly back in the box when you're done with your projects.
