I like how it takes the guesswork out of sharpening a pencil. Once you put it in place and give it a little push, this ingenious machine does the rest of the work. I would give it 5 stars if the thinnest of shavings didn't land on the inside edge of the tank and fall onto the base of the sharpener, under the tank so you have to dust the bottom. Sharpen each time you clean the chips. An improved design has a sort of lip or protrusion in the yellow area where the chips first fall. This will remove any shavings from the area where the inside edge of the bowl meets the bottom edge of the yellow piece that contains the grinder.
