Review on Enhanced Precision - AmScope B120C Magnification Illumination Double Layer Microscope by William Stewart

I bought this for my daughter to encourage her love of science. I would like to remind you that I have extensive experience in the field of optics, including years of amateur astronomy and photography. So I know good glass and hate cheap optics. To say that I am impressed with this microscope does the word "impressed" a disservice. worked 100% out of the box. It's better than the microscopes the local high school has, and best of all, she enjoys using it so much that we've noticed she gets up early to use it before school, which is the kid that does don't get up early. I will say that the 100x lens was of little use for our purposes (at least not yet) so I bought an additional 2x lens that allows her to use the scope to view coins, bills and other larger objects . . You'll need an external light source for this, but getting one is easy. We'll eventually reach the 100x goal, but for now we're excited about the new setup, and guess what? The fact that we can swap lenses is a HUGE benefit that we wouldn't get with a cheaper microscope. If there's one negative thing I can say, it's that there were no instructions in the box. I decided I could just download it and went to a website that asked me to find a customer information sheet, which I did. He told me to enter the code and if there was no code I probably bought it from Revain (which I did) and that there would be a code on the box. I entered every damn code I could find and none worked. Finally, in a fit of frustration, I entered the model number and the manual popped up. I don't understand why I have to enter code to get the manual, but I hope this helps someone else. We didn't really need a guide to be honest, but it's always nice to have one. The light is very bright and can be dimmed with the dial on the side. The controls are very precise and work great. I wish they were metal instead of plastic, but if plastic pens give me that kind of look for the price I paid, plastic pens it is! Yes I could have bought it cheaper elsewhere but I chose Revain knowing that if there was a problem Revain would just trade it in or give it back to me no problem. My daughter and I spent hours studying everything that came to mind through her microscope. She is passionate about science, happy to have a real tool and can't wait to use it every day. Who knows? Maybe this will help her become a world famous microbiologist or forensic scientist. As far as I know, the money was not spent in vain.
