I use a Hyde utility knife holder (I like the shape and weight in my hand) and they fit perfectly. The blades were easily removed from the holder simply by sliding them to the right from the open top. I didn't have to push or anything, just push. I can store extra blades in the handle so I took out a few. I noticed that it took a second or two for the bin to click onto the next one for it to be pulled out. Just look closely at the top and you will be able to tell if the blade is there to slide. (The government says I'm old, so if I see it, so can you, LOL). There is some oil on the blades. This is good because it protects them from rust. I have used this utility knife for breaking open boxes etc. New blade? My god, what a wonderful difference in blade sharpness! with this 100 refill, i don't have to put up with a blunt blade for long. Also, I sometimes use this when crafting and make sure to wipe the oil off the blade before using it this way, but then again this is to keep the blade sharp and rust free so I'm ok with having to wipe. .
