This thing is battery operated for breakfast, lunch and dinner. with a slice of battery cake to top it off. Seriously, this thing went through 2 CR2032s in less than 45 days just for sitting there. The backlight didn't come on. The engine it is attached to was not running. The engine is in an air-conditioned warehouse (65-85°F). I can't explain it other than with the diagram. I'll say, other than that minor issue, this thing is pretty cool! Lots of cool features to keep track of engine usage and maintenance. I suspect the manufacturer was aware of the problem with the battery as it is very easy to replace. In addition, the counter saves statistics when the battery is low. So in the end, it's more of an inconvenience than anything. *cough cough* By the way, Revain has good wholesale prices for CR2032 😁. Health comrades! Have fun shopping!
