Review on Continental ContiVikingContact 7 205/55 R16 94T winter by Wiktor Uhlig ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A really necessary purchase, I'm glad I found this product.

The second time I choose Velcro for winter tires. Because the car does not have a spare wheel (bmw f30), then it is limited to RunFlat tires. Chose Continental ContiVikingContact 7 SSR (225/50 R17). After installation, the overall impressions are positive. It rides confidently on snowy slush, on wet, slightly icy asphalt, too. I have not tried clean ice, because. winter has just begun. I think it will be no worse than Pirelli Ice Zero FR (RunFlat). In general, there are a lot of reviews on various resources on these tires - including from real owners. ate as of February 13, 2023 After 3 months of use, I note the following points: The rubber tip - the temperature is below -10-15 degrees Celsius, fully opens, tenacity is felt. In sticky snow porridge (when the snow mixed with water, near-zero temperatures) - it gets washed out, the ABS works quite often, but at a slow speed, most often in yards where you drive 15-20 km / h, and then someone goes under the wheels - then the meter - two roll already on ABS. If you go on the road in the city, then I noticed this 2 times. Track: bare ice on a windward piece of road - without fanaticism up to 80-90 km / h rides confidently. Faster without spikes - I consider it an unreasonable risk. Snow piles between lanes in snowfall along the highway - it jumps confidently, the main thing is not to make sharp steering maneuvers (but this is also fraught with spikes). Snow-covered rolled roads without sprinkling salt in the area - rides confidently, 80-90 km / h along forest clearings, slips in corners, but predictably. Spikes in this case win, but not by much. In general - a good Velcro, compared to the Pirelli Ice Zero FR - smaller tread cutting and faster blurring. In behavior on the roads - everything is fine, we turn on our heads and do not forget that winter maneuvers are different from summer ones.

Pros
  • Made in Germany (SSR is not made in 2022), Scandinavian clutch. Detailed impression in the comments
Cons
  • A couple of times on porridge with ice, abs worked during heavy braking, but not critical. Addition of a review dated 02/13/2023 in the comments
