I expected them to deform under heavy clamping pressure. They are there, but this is irrelevant and in no way affects subsequent work. To be fair there is no deformation in most applications. I encountered a small crowd in one of the rounds where I placed an item with a 3/4" thread and clamped it hard - very hard. If you look closely you can see the indentations in the threads. Handling fragile items. Magnets make it easy to move the jaws left, right, or off. I firmly clamped the sharp edges of the sheet metal and it worked great without scratching the sponges. quite a bit of vise opening. I have a 4 inch vise and there are things that won't fit in Bessey's jaws but will when removed. If anyone wants to know the amount of the reduction, write a question in the comments and I'll go to the workshop and take measurements. This is a good product.
