Review on Controls TSS1XP Heavy Duty Single Automatic by David Flores

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great and the company is very responsive

Look for this iznuV0DaAvU on YouTube. This is a 5 minute overview of my setup (medium install). Indicates the time of the video and some additional details. The attached video is from my CCTV system and does not show the installation. I've never owned a gate opener (or gate for that matter) - so take it for what it's worth. My main reason for choosing Ghost Controls over the much more popular Mighty Mule was the feedback. While many of these are subjective, there have been several reviews of MM's product that suggest they have switched to GC. There have been comments that the GC opens/closes faster too, although I can't verify this. thick square tube. I didn't want to use wood as I saw how they can bend and warp over time. I cemented the post about 3 feet into the ground and welded the pivot bolts in place. for reliable operation of the gate that neither sags nor sags. It takes about 20 seconds from the moment the remote control is pressed to fully open the opener. For me it opens at about 100°, which is the maximum opening limit This provides the most clearance for the corner of my driveway. The instructions require you to install the controller and battery within 4 feet of the opener. This puts him on the fence and definitely within range of everyone behind the fence. I decided to move the controller and battery box to the opposite side of the operator, to do this I needed an extended cable coming from the motor (operator on a two gate layout). This allowed me to run the cable under the dive and about 10 feet from the gate latch. Out of the reach of strangers. The manual also states that the controller/battery pack should be installed at least 3 feet off the ground to avoid excessive wetness and dirt. I cast a small slab (12" x 18") with a 20" post. Although it's much closer to the ground, I use a fake stone/bolder finish to hide the slab. This should keep it clean and keep dry and out of sight.Because the antenna is closer to the ground I can't activate the gate from my house (500ft down the driveway) but it still works close enough on the approach that it's fully open , if I drive there (at normal speed).) I also opted to install a lane sensor - although I bought the Mighty Mule (100ft) version as it was considerably cheaper and the GC confirmed that it would work - and it does. Now if a UPS or FedEx pulls out of my driveway, the gates open as soon as they approach. It's perfect. Also, my house is fully automated (Vera). So I wanted to bring the gate with me a punch control the automation system. This would allow me to open the gate during the day and close it at sunset. Or I could open them remotely (via a phone app) if someone I don't trust needs to log in (without giving them a passcode). It also allows me to opt out of using the auto-close feature on the stock controller, which is very limited. But for my HA system to work properly, it needs to know if the door is open or closed. The GC informed me that there is no item on its control board that reports the status of the gate position (like open contacts when the gate is open, or closed when the gate is closed). And this is the truth. However, the motor/drive module has a built-in mechanical limit switch at the end of the jackscrew. Although I haven't connected it yet, I intend to use this switch to signal my HA system that the gate is open/closed.
