Perhaps the switch itself is rated for 5A, but the wires on the socket are only 0.5mm² (22AWG). 0.5 mm² copper wire is only safe up to a maximum of 1.4 A. It is strongly discouraged to use this switch in a circuit with a DC current greater than 1A. Excuse me. If this switch was as advertised it would be perfect for my application.
