Review on Intel Solid State Drive SATA 2 5 Inch by Brandon Castano

I bought 2 of these drives for two of my computers: - MacBook Pro 3.1 (Santa Rosa) 2.4GHz late 2007 and - ASUS ul30vt, from 2010. The drive has, unfortunately for ME, problems with BOTH computers. First, it's based on Sandforce, which doesn't work well with Mac. I found this the hard way as my system would randomly and intermittently hang for 30 seconds to a minute without provocation. He just doesn't like Macs. Second, the problem I can't identify is when I put my asus ul30vt to sleep (after a clean install of windows 7 mind you), when I try to wake it up the system crashes and reboots with no explanation. . Bug reports show this as a blue screen and subsequent attempts to fix it have proved unsuccessful. Presumably this issue has been fixed with other SSDs using the same Sandforce controller, but Intel in the absence of infinite wisdom (like SandForce itself) has not attempted to fix this or release a firmware update. the only result: speed. It's fast. so much so that I concluded that my laptop isn't sleeping anymore. The launch speed is fast enough for me to use on the go. Disadvantage: poor support. Obvious problems in both systems. PC I'm willing to compromise because it's a sleep issue for me (however, others have reported freezing on PC which I'm experiencing on Mac). but hanging poppies is unacceptable. Besides, they don't worry about it. I've since bought a Samsung SSD (840 120GB) to install on my Mac and haven't had any major issues and have put this Intel on my gaming console 3. To sum up, speed is good, but there are potential hard drive issues and plenty of Intel issues. I will NEVER buy another Intel product as long as I live: bad design choices (Sandforce controllers) and bad support (NO firmware updates) equates to bad service and inattention to your customers. Shame on your intelligence.
