Review on 🍲 EVERIE 12 Quart Sous Vide Container with Hinged Lid - For Breville Joule Immersion Cooker (Side Mount) - Ultimate Sous Vide Solution by Holly Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect size for small batches

I have used my Joule with many different containers, mostly round but once with my large 18 liter frypot. While a pot works great, especially one towel-wrapped for insulation and fitted with a Joule-Cut foil lid, it's a bulky eyesore that'll sit on the counter for 48 hours while you cook the brisket. This 7 liter jar is the right size and shape for most of my cooking needs. I don't have to pour as much water into a smaller container and the insulating sleeve means I don't have to add towels. The lid is safer than the foil. I also really appreciate that it's a lot easier to fit a vacuum bag or two in a rectangular container than trying to wrap it around a joule in a round container. I can put shrimp or fish in a single layer, then roll up the bottom of the bag so all the food is below the water level and weight the bag to keep it down. When the bag was bent vertically out of the round pan, I couldn't roll it horizontally. I can fill a container about a third full with water and cook a pound of shrimp or fish fairly easily. If I filled the container to the brim I could probably cook two or three pounds of something else if I was careful with placement and filled the container more.

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Very expensive
