Review on ๐Ÿ”Š High-Quality Subwoofer Stereo Amplifier - 100Watt 2-8ohm TPA3116 Mono Channel Class D Amp for Home Theater Power by Jacqueline Jenkins

New life for an old subwoofer!

After 15 years, the 12" Infinity subwoofer's internally driven amplifier that I loved so much finally gave its last breath, with an incessant hum that couldn't be cured without trying to replace all the capacitors on the internal I don't want to replace the circuit board. Trust in it. Given that the speaker and cabinet itself were in great shape and I liked the sound, I decided to see if I could replace the internal amplifier board with something else. stumbled upon this little amp which seemed worth a try as I no longer had to fiddle with a crossover or satellite hookup. So I removed the back panel of the subwoofer, took a piece of 1/4 inch fiber board and set about making a new back panel to put this amp in. I installed a panel mount RCA jack and soldered a wire from it to a 1/8" mono jack for the amp input; and used the rest of the old amp as an internal shelf for this guy as well as a mount for the DC power supply. Shipped before place. I also (cough) used some hot glue to seal the amp and power cord entry into the panel. It's not pretty but works fine and is easy to detach if needed. After that's all plugged in and powered up, my works old subwoofer again without hum and sounds great!I hope for fifty bucks I can keep the sub for another 15 years!
