Review on Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice Arctic 195/60 R15 88T winter by Mateusz Cieciora ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Reliable product for all occasions, quality on par.

I have been using since 2022. While it was new, it was just super, if not for the noise from one wheel (marriage of rubber, I was looking for a reason for a long time). I bought tires in two sets of 2 wheels: Polish and 2022 production. Just the 2022 wheel is buzzing. The tread is not worn out yet, but the studs have already been replaced with repair ones, after 5 seasons 25-30% of the studs remain. Rubber for a maximum of 5 years, as indicated in the instructions. Then it works like some kind of soft budget. If the native spikes are over, it is better to change the rubber, because. becomes useless. Do not enter sharp turns at high speed, although it holds a straight line perfectly. I recommend if it is possible to consistently ate the rubber every 4-5 years.

Pros
  • The advantages are all manifested while the tires are new, 2-3 seasons! In the early years, as long as the native spikes are in place and the tread is not worn out, it is an excellent rubber. Super grip on ice, excellent rowing in the snow. It remains soft even in frosts of about -40 degrees. It is noticed that the colder it is outside, the better the rubber works. Accordingly, the ideal region of application is the northern latitudes, where the temperature in winter is -25 degrees, this is the norm. This makes it soft and comfortable. Holds acceleration and braking well in a straight line. Very evil spikes, clean ice keeps tightly. It’s not scary to suddenly fly out onto the ice.
Cons
  • As they wear out, efficiency is lost, and the grip becomes worse. Increasingly, ABS and ESP are working, sections from a traffic light are not in the most active mode. It works much worse with repair spikes than with 50% of native spikes, as if they were not there. Native spikes are so hooky and evil that bare asphalt tears them up by the roots, with active driving, you need to be as careful as possible. It is almost useless at temperatures from -5 and warmer - it becomes sour, you have to pump harder, the asphalt does not hold, all the more wet. It became noisy, but did not understand at what point. Moreover, the hum comes from a particular wheel at a speed of around 100+ km / h, I believe there was a marriage of rubber. They twisted it on the stand, the disk is even, but the rubber itself on one wheel is curved, dancing, I think it is buzzing. They write that the sidewall is weak, but did not notice any problems. But I don’t like that it “sags”, it looks like it’s always let down. Became very expensive.
