Bought this to set sideways on top of my desk hutch to hold my college textbooks and such. Didn't feel like spending the time to make one myself, chose this over the 6-cube version and glad that I did-- it would have looked a bit odd in comparison to the width of my desk. $40 with Prime shipping when I bought it, $5 more than the 6-cube version. It lands squarely in the "fair and acceptable" category for me. It was exactly as good as I expected out of a $40 organizer. Simple, adequately sturdy with some small movement in the frame (this would probably go away if you use some wood glue when assembling it). I was so stricken with how well this did at meeting all of my expectations that I had to write a review. It's not as nice as a $150 bookcase would be, but that's because you're only paying $40 and you just need something that works and won't break.Pros:Easy to assemble (20 minutes is probably stretching it from unboxing to setting it on top of my desk hutch). I have a drill but didn't end up using it because the screws were easy to put in (also didn't want to risk overdoing it and tearing up the wood).Good instructions. The shelf is a simple design and so does the instructions. If you follow the order it does you can avoid some headaches with the pieces trying to move around on you before the screws are tightened. There are holes on the edges and extra dowels if you want to stack multiples of them together. It also comes with white plastic plugs to fill the holes if you won't use them. Nice to know I can add on to this easily if I want to.Cons:The square sheets used for the back for half of the cubbies seem to be a non-corrugated cardboard with a white glossy side. Was expecting it to be particle board or something else. They also come folded in half, so there will be a crease line that isn't glaringly obvious but is still there. Not a big deal for me since I wasn't going to use them anyway. On the positive side they do have some predone indents/holes for lining up the nails, and you can arrange them however you want. There were a few small nicks in some of the corners of the panels where the laminate broke off. I think most of these were from when I pulled the panels out of the box and set/dropped them in a pile on top of each other, but I can't be sure. Easy enough to cover up with a paint pen, white-out, etc. if it bothers you. Mine were all in corners that are hard to see when it's put together.
