No star not sure if that's really the reason, but the SSD worked fine with a regular SATA connection. It seemed normal for a while, but suddenly one day after a reboot, all the data is ready. Before that, the SSD went through hundreds of reboots on a SATA connection and had no signs of problems with it and still no other signs of problems. While this cable may not be the cause, it seems like an odd coincidence. that the drive deteriorated shortly after switching to this cable. I like the design of the cable. It's small and fits well on an SSD, for example, although it doesn't have a connector for extra power if you want to use a 3.5-inch magnetic hard drive. As for the corruption, it says the "lost" partition is unrecoverable, so I don't have that shortcut to get my 2-3TB files back
