I teach guitar and ukulele for work, and have to say 6 is about the age where most kids are ready to understand fully playing or caring for their instrument. That being said, it's never too early to encourage a love of music.Bought this for my niece's 3rd birthday and it's perfect! While it's plastic and definitely a toy, it looks real, is very sturdy and she loves it! This is perfect for those kids that are a little too young to have a real wooden (breakable) instrument, especially if you want to gift an older sibling at the same time a with real instrument and make sure everyone gets something.
