7 years ago I installed a steel roof. Screws of this type used Very little wear when connecting the washer to the roof. This is the key part. for these screws to work properly. You should crush the puck, not flatten it. Other roofing screws do not have the protective cover that these do. This is the best type of screw for steel roofs. They will still have wear and tear over time. and needs a replacement. They just don't all have to be replaced every 5 years. They last longer and are more effective than flat top screws.
