I work outdoors and often on roofs as a photovoltaic solar contractor and was looking for something to keep the sun off of my arms to reduce the long term damage to my skin (even with using SPF 50 sunblock every day I'm noticing damage) and to possibly keep me cooler along the way as the daytime highs where I live and work are regularly 100 - 110 degrees from June through September in California's High Desert and Central Valley. It's started to turn warm the past couple of weeks and these sleeves have definitely helped me stay cooler (along with my Halo skull cap & tail) to the point that I never felt particularly hot today working in the full sun on a concrete tile roof from noon through 6:00 PM. I think the combination of the bright white fabric reflecting significantly more incoming radiation than my moderately tan skin and the fabric's ability to evenly disperse sweat for optimal cooling both contribute to greater comfort in the heat than I expected. I still wear my loose fitting outdoor shirts and a wide-brim hat. These are tighter than another sleeve I own on my average 6' build and about the only room for improvement I've found would be for a thicker material like the Halo skull cap & tail so it could hold water to allow to gradually evaporate for additional cooling. I now wear these every time I'm outdoors so I don't have to lather up with sunscreen and I just ordered my second three pack and think these are a solid value.
