Worst Xacto Blades EVER

I am a Graphic Designer and have been using X-Acto #11 Blades for over 24 years and over the years I have never been disappointed with their product. I LOVE X-Acto Blades and get excited when a new pack of #11 Blades opens. A small box lifting the lid then flipping down the brown wax paper to show it in all its glory, all lined up perfectly. a whole group of new, razor-sharp blades. Then carefully remove the blade from the packaging. sometimes the oil with which the blades were smeared gets on the fingertips. And finally, a new blade cuts a sheet of paper. smooth, easy glide. this is the best. I know it's nonsense, but that's not something you see every day. This is NOT the experience I have had with these blades. The first one I used was cut open and felt like it was already blunt. So I thought hmmm maybe it's a coincidence let me try another one from the pack. I have, same experience. These blades actually ripped through the paper as I cut. I asked an office colleague to try it because I thought I had lost my footing. The same experience. Those special blades are terrible. I should mention that I also use a self-healing cutting mat, so it wasn't the surface I'm cutting on. that hasn't changed in 24 years either. So in summer DO NOT BUY THESE BLADES. Not this particular bulk pack. Save your money and buy a smaller pack because you end up throwing it away like I did. What good is a knife that doesn't cut!

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

These new "blue" types feel like they are not nearly as sharp

Very poorly ground and very dull!

These are not genuine X-ACTO blades! Dull and covered in a black, strongly-scented oil
