I've spent years choosing my modems instead of paying the cable company every month. Yes, you can buy a modem and dialer from your ISP! This device is likely to fit most cable companies, but check it out first. The ARRIS Surfboard Docsis 3.1 Cable Modem - SB8200 was one of the first devices available when Gb over Cable services were introduced. <Not for fiber, satellite or DSL. REALLY check with your ISP for compatibility!> I installed the modem and it's connected - many ISPs have auto detection and connection. In my case, I had to contact the provider and specify what speed I want and the price for 500MB. I ended up getting $51 for 500MB, which was $1 more than the price I paid for 100MB. No more spinning orange donuts when my wife and I use Fire TV devices to stream and connect to 4 PCs, check email, and occasionally surf the web. And only 22 devices in the network! Recommended for typical cable service when you need pro speed or want to host many devices and download streaming.
