If you want/need to own your network, that's great!

I've spent years choosing my modems instead of paying the cable company every month. Yes, you can buy a modem and dialer from your ISP! This device is likely to fit most cable companies, but check it out first. The ARRIS Surfboard Docsis 3.1 Cable Modem - SB8200 was one of the first devices available when Gb over Cable services were introduced. <Not for fiber, satellite or DSL. REALLY check with your ISP for compatibility!> I installed the modem and it's connected - many ISPs have auto…

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Legacy model

Ashamed of Revain for letting the vendor claim they "repair" these devices. Unless the previous owner called Comcast and turned it off while logged into their account, the modem cannot be used by anyone else. Mine arrived yesterday and Comcast found it. a west coast user can use it. After playing around with Comcast's modem tools for an hour, my tech found a little-used tool called "Xcaliber" that I used to remove the old registry. The tech said there was almost no documentation for it in…

So far it works best in Computers & Accessories

So far it works and it fits. I get the estimated Internet plan speed (Gig). You must remember that you will need to call your ISP and enter the MAC address on the bottom of the modem and then set it up for your account. This is not plug and play and will not work if you just plug it in in place of your old modem. I haven't encountered the same issues as others who have had issues with it already being assigned to someone else's account. I'm on Wave too, so I suspected this was a less likely…

Refurb device, still working

Update: A few days after installation I woke up one morning and found no network connection. rebooted the modem and it worked but decided to abandon this repair and try another model entirely. this will be sent back. It might be a fix because of that, but I'm not willing to spend more time if the other one works. -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- I gambled on a repair as I was in dire need of a modem (next day) and that was it .comcast upgraded its

Great work, but check your ISP first!

UPDATE [7/27/2020] As of July 23rd this year, my ISP, Optimum by Altice, is promoting DOCSIS 3.1 Downstream, giving me the opportunity to experience this product more than before. With a plan of 400↓/35↑ Mbps when all systems are green, this thing works like a beast! I also recommend that after you receive and power on this updated product, you do a reset (30-30-30 if you like) to allow the updated product to receive new signals from a clean slate. This seems especially useful if the updated…
