The fabric is thick cotton, almost flannel like, but the pants are 100% Cotton so you know what's going to happen as soon as they hit the clothes dryer the first time. (" so don't put them in the dryer !" - yeah right). I ordered size 32 and was sent size 34. Did they know they would shrink? If so they would be waaay too small after any kind of shrinking because the 34's, unwashed, already fit a tiny bit on the small side though the leg, though the waist was ok. The fit: they sort of hang like a boring pair of lamely cut chinos getting narrow at the calf and too thin in the thigh - but with cargo pockets sewn on. I did like that they structured/sewed relief into the knee for very easy bending at the knee. Although there are some aspects to like, ultimately they're 'close but no cigar' especially with the threat of any shrinkage over time if I carefully only washed in cold water & hung to dry. If the same amount of work goes into making a lame cut as does a sophisticated cut why don't they do some research on fit and get it right and why do they think it's ok to sell un-shrunk cotton? I think it's a bad business decision in this day of online shopping. I guess it saves them 50¢ a pair in extra material or something (so they can lose $5 a pair in returns).
