Thanks to good reviews I bought a good choice and even won an Editors' Choice Award from Runners World. I have had good experiences with Brooks shoes in the past. I play midfoot and where my previous pair of Brooks had a smaller midfoot drop, this shoe has a 12mm drop. While this may be normal for those who walk in heels, these shoes cause tremendous leg fatigue, at least for me. I can comfortably run 10 miles in the Saucony Kinvara 12, as well as many other shoes including other pairs from Brooks, but my feet get tired after 6-7 miles in these shoes. Even on shorter runs of 5k and 5 miles there is a big difference in recovery compared to other running shoes. Also, the transition feels devoid of energy - I feel like all of the stored energy from my landing is completely lost as I move to the push off. They're only 1.4 ounces heavier than the Kinvara 12, which feels amazingly light, supportive, and natural, and I've definitely run in heavier shoes, so I have to imagine the combination of a big midfoot drop, uncomfortable transitions, and an overall package. not the best for my needs. I really only intended to use it for the 3-4 mile walks my wife and I take, but even then it's amazing how tiring this shoe is compared to most other shoes I've worn. I've also noticed that it rubs my Achilles tendon a bit, which has been an issue with some running shoes in the past. So, if you faced similar problems, this issue is worth looking into. I won't be buying Traces again, but they might still go well with some. I personally stick to lighter shoes with less elevation gain. Brooks makes many great pairs out of it - it's not about the brand, it's about the special design.
