I have tried three different infrared heaters in the last month. The first was a $400 comfort stove I bought from Tractor Supply. I just couldn't justify keeping it (I needed two) when I could return it and buy two from Revain for the price of one Comfort Furnace. Here's why I love this heater: - It has a great oscillating option that helps move heat around the room more efficiently. I find this very handy when I'm wondering what the temp is and when it might turn off. low and high. Low uses half the power but doesn't sacrifice heat. The heat is so warm that you can hardly hold your hand in front of the output register for more than a few seconds. Other heaters I've tried blow warm air at low speeds. - Good design. Not very quiet, but not loud either. A low, unobtrusive hum. I have it on an area of about 700 square meters. Feet and I set it to a "low" 60 so it runs fairly consistently. However, the auto temperature works because last night I noticed that it would turn itself off several times after reaching and maintaining the desired temperature, which is great. Unfortunately, the humidifier was leaking, so it deserves 4 stars. I contacted Revain and they sent me a replacement. As soon as I get a replacement I'll send it back (not without heat, I'm so glad they were able to do this for me). I read several other reviews that the humidifier was leaking/not working properly. I'll let you know as soon as I have a replacement. I'm really hoping to get a device with a working humidifier because I plan on using that feature a lot (and adding drops of essential oils to my water bottles). stay warm I work too, so I returned it too. The heater worked so well that I decided to give it another try. The third replacement had a working humidifier! You can immediately see if there is a leak. Find the plastic bottle adapter that best fits your bottle size/shape. Fill the bottle with water, screw on the adaptor/head and hold it upside down. If ANY water drips out of the bottle, it will drain as soon as you place it in the humidifier holder. I really wanted this product to work because I am an essential oil diffuser and figured I could put a few drops of essential oils in a water bottle and the humidifier would diffuse the scent into the air. In hindsight, after all the hassle with returns, I'd happily buy the one without the humidifier and use the extra money to buy a nice diffuser. Lesson learned. I still stand by my opinion that this is an excellent heater. I used two of these as my primary heat source all winter, and my electric bill only increased by $30 a month. One more thing: some manufacturers of infrared heaters advise placing the device on a stable worktop or table for large areas. I have found the device to be significantly more effective on my large areas when placed directly on the ground.
