I had this unit before (of the same mold) but from a different manufacturer. I had two of these on my home theater PC and when I decided to add a third drive I needed another (with the intention of keeping the unit cool and quiet and extending system life). Note that you must leave the slot under the hard drive empty for this. This works well in almost every situation I've seen, but be aware that the mounting tabs may interfere with the "shelf" tabs that the drive sits on in some mounting configurations. This even applies to my own HTPC and I had to mount them to drives when they were already installed in the drive bays. However, the small tabs fit between the various "shelf tabs" on these cages, allowing me to use them (unlike most other HD coolers I've seen). They're quiet and definitely reduce the measured temperature of the drive, which should increase the overall drive life significantly. They also don't generate enough parasitic magnetism to affect the drive's memory. Note that you need a 4-wire Molex drive connector. old type HD/CD. for power supply, no SATA connector. The connector is a pass-through type, so you can connect that cable and then connect something else (even a different fan) to that connector. Generally this is recommended.
