I bought this for my 100 gallon salt water tank. In the aquarium only fish without plants. That works great! I also bought a timer and although reviews of the timer have been mixed, mostly about how difficult it is to program. It's just not true. Programming took 5 minutes (sold separately). The supports on the lantern are removable (they just slide in). I was able to have them face up so I could mount them on my lid (my tank top has a lid that opens at the top for easy access) so opening the lid wasn't a problem. Pros: Easy to install. Excellent price. LED, so no need to deal with fluorescent lighting. Has an excellent electric timer, white and blue light for daytime use. blue for the night
