I bought a lower quality Dyson vacuum. This worked very well in my house, which has mostly wood floors but also tile and carpet. Decided to upgrade to a better model, took this one. It was a big vacuum for about 4-5 months. It's easy to use, moves around without bulky cords, is lightweight, and picks things up pretty well. BUT. About a month ago I started having problems. I cleaned regularly and as best I could, but it wasn't enough. One day he just started smoking. The engine smelled of burning. I turned it off, cleaned it again, and let it cool for a day or two, but every time I try to use it, the same thing happens. Now the head doesn't spin at all and as soon as I turn it on I smell a burnt engine. I would have hoped for more in a vacuum that had so much money. 6 months wasn't enough for a (almost) $500 vacuum cleaner.
