I bought a pair of these headboard reading lights. I bought the surface mount option instead of the recessed option as I don't have any wall boxes to mount them to. They came with a bracket that the installer is likely to attach to the wall, either stud or drywall anchors. It also assumes that exposed electrical cords come out of the drywall, which is not allowed in the US. I was planning on drilling a hole in the side of the light and still routing the lamp cord through it instead of wiring it to the wall power supply, so that works for me, but probably won't fit in a standard round or square US wall box. without having to customize anything with the pad. Both dimmer knobs were scratched pretty badly. There is nothing in the packaging that could cause this, so I suspect the buttons were simply dug out of the bin at the factory and damaged prior to installation. The buttons don't click to turn off, just dim to zero. I haven't hooked them up yet to see if they hum. Otherwise the finish looks good and they are a good weight. All in all, a pretty solid product for the price if you're willing to do a custom install. --------------------------------------------- UPDATE: I have a a few lamp cords and turnbuckles, holes drilled on the side of the headlights and routed the cord as I will be using it (see photo - THIS IS NOT THE PRODUCT TURNED, THIS IS MY MODIFICATION). Now that they're on, I can hear one of them going silent and the other making a distinct hum that gets louder as you turn the light brighter. While the buttons don't click to "turn off" but simply dim to zero, none of the lights make any noise when off.
