As mentioned in another review, this is not solid metal.

As mentioned in another review this is not solid metal but I find it very durable. It has an odd mechanism for attaching it to the car, but it seems to work and stay in place, although I'm not exactly sure how. Be careful when setting it to the angle you need to turn it to see behind your car. It seems to have a somewhat limited turning range once installed. Overall I'm happy for the price.
