Review on 🔐 Versatile and Durable National Hardware N177-188 V835 Cane Bolt in Black – 1/2’’ x 18’’ by Alan Miller

I installed two of these devices yesterday. So far they're working great. The instructions say the distance between them and how to mount them, but I ended up doing that. 1) Hold the gate in the correct position and align the latch. 2) Mark on the floor where you need the latch to snap into place. 3) Move the gate to the side and drive a 1/2" 12" piece of pipe into the ground where you marked it. I used an old piece of copper pipe I had lying around. Before driving the pipe into the ground, crimp the end of the pipe so it's sharp and pushes the dirt out of the road instead of filling it up. 4) Open the gate again and snap the lock into the grounding tube. This should loosely hold the brackets in place. 5) Adjust the brackets so that the latch is fully engaged and also opens far enough to be out of the way. 6) Screw the brackets tight. Of the two I installed yesterday, one was bare. Steel and the other was black (the ones I bought on this site). The black finish scratches easily and I don't think it will last long. Other than that, it's a great clasp.
