I bought a 6 foot double gate system from a sawmill where I bought cedar fence boards and they came with a latch and hook latch system . Well, anyone who is likely to purchase this product knows that on a 12 foot gate it doesn't take much wind to break the deadbolt and hook lock. It is reliable! I like this version that has a 'hook' so you can hang the stick when not in use. I went to a big store and bought the same version but found it was 5/8" which to be honest is not only overkill for my small 4x4 gates that I make but they are heavier as well. I'm glad I found this on Revain because it's exactly the same version of the big brother in terms of hardware/finish/quality just not as heavy which in my case is much better! I installed two of these devices yesterday. So far they're working great. The instructions say the distance between them and how to mount them, but I ended up doing that. 1) Hold the gate in the correct position and align the latch. 2) Mark on the floor where you need the latch to snap into place. 3) Move the gate to the side and drive a 1/2" 12" piece of pipe into the ground where you marked it.
