I felt the need to clean up this printer as I had a nervous breakdown at 2am last Saturday when an old HP printer broke down. I had to print magazines for my PhD class and only had a specific day to do my homework. Long story short, I couldn't turn HP down because I couldn't find the printer and ink on Amazon or in stores. At Canon, Brother or Epson etc. I was very annoyed about hp and the ratings were very bad. The price didn't put me off as I was looking in this area and wanted to upgrade the printer to print volume at a decent speed. (pages per minute) I was also curious about the ink subscription bypass as many have complained about it in the reviews. I ordered it on Sunday morning and it arrived today (Wednesday) with ink cartridges (color and black). I bought the ink separately on Sunday just in case as I saw a lot of complaints. I just want to add that I'm a very tech savvy person so I wasn't too excited. The box arrived safely, I opened it and everything worked without any problems. I didn't even need instructions to set up the alignment and insert the ink cartridge. All of this seemed intuitive to me. By adding my iPad, MacBook Air, and iPhone to the Smart HP app at the same time, I can print from all of my devices. Everything was set up and completed within 10 minutes and I was able to enter my items instantly from all three devices. I checked the photo from my phone to check the quality, it was ah. not a printer target but just thought I'd add this here. Maybe you need photo paper (didn't delve into that topic). Anyhow, overall I would recommend this inexpensive printer as it caught my eye with the ADF on top and the large paper tray as it is still a relatively compact home office printer and faster (ppm) compared to my old printer . so I'm not complaining. Ink refills are available from Amazon. I didn't even use the setup guide, it's pretty basic, but I'm familiar with gadgets as it's intuitive to me. Good luck and I'll update if there are any problems. ** I'm deducting a star for the fact that the paper flies out of the printer when the output tray arms aren't fully extended and I keep it folded because it's close to my path.
