I bought the walkie talkies you use at an outdoor festival with a three to four city block range. When I received them I was a bit disappointed as they are very light and quite small and the packaging suggested they were suitable for children. Regardless, I put batteries in them, which gave them a bit more weight, tuned them all to the same channel, and they worked surprisingly well for our needs. We were able to easily communicate with team members several blocks away. They were crisp and not distorted at all, definitely loud enough to be able to turn the volume up/down. You can plug in an earphone, although this requires a smaller plug than standard headphones. They come with a small mini USB charger that allows you to charge three at once. It would be great to charge all four at once. One of them lost their charge earlier than expected so I charged them the day before so they would be ready for the second day. All in all I would buy them again.
